    Wow thanks for sharing!!! I swear your before and after also took 10 years off!! I am trying the 21 day RAW challenge to see if there is any improvement in my autoimmune issues. I won't argue if any weight loss happens. I already exercise, dont drink and only drink water but I don't eat balanced meals. I already love veggies but for me it is mostly because I hate "diets" and don't want to be on a diet. As you said I want to change my lifestyle. I will finally get some use out of my vitamix. I know this video is old but it is super inspo!

    Hi dear Lissa! I have an update - great news! I gave my sprouting a second chance. This time it worked like magic 🪄 I sprouted 1 heaping tablespoon of green lentils. I ate them on the 3rd day of sprouting. They were super delicious, easy to digest and add an unparalleled satiating factor to my evening salad. I have been on a 100% low fat raw vegan diet since 2012. I cannot believe that it is only now that I am discovering sprouting! LOL!!! Thank you for being a huge inspiration and wonderful, caring teacher. L♥VE u 🤗

      Awwwww hugs to you!!! I’m SUPER happy to hear you are adding that variety to your diet! Sprouts are such an incredible living food to eat and long lived populations eat lots of legumes so why not include them. I’m also extremely happy that I played a role in inspiring you to add them and experiment with them as well. Your gut microbiome will be very happy too!!! 🩷🩷🩷 thank you for updating me on that! I like the lentil sprouts after only 2 days sprouting as well because I like the texture without long tails. They are great in raw soups too!

      @@RawFoodRomance You are so sweet. Thank you darling. 🙏 Oh, I want to share this as well: My "first" attempt to sprout was actually my second. My first one happened about 2 weeks ago... I was sprouting green lentils for about 8 days! They turned into "microgreens", but... for me that was unpalatable grass that made me sick even from trying a bite of it 😩 I threw all that away and decided to sprout for 2-3 days max. I am still learning. But by no means I am giving up! 😊 L♥VE u! PS You are a HUGE inspiration to me in so many regards. You are not even aware.

      Any type of SWEET potato works! The white ones keep the wrap more bread color. Orange and purple work fine too they change the color!

    What fruits or veggies help to bind the wrap? What fruits or veggies contribute to the flexibility of the wrap? Do any seasonings or additives contribute to either of these features in wraps? Thank you! ❤

      All the fruits and veggies are carefully selected for the wraps and each ingredient plays its own important role. Too much of one, not enough of another, and it will change the integrity of the wrap itself. Each ingredient is important that’s why I suggest not changing the recipes as I cannot guarantee similar results to mine. Seasonings add flavor and other ingredients help in other ways to enhance the wrap experience

    Hi dear Lissa! Thank you for this great tutorial and your lovely energy. I am new to sprouting. I bought sprouting jars and some organic sprouting seeds. I sprouted green lentils, ate a couple of tablespoons of them in their raw state with my salad... and literally got sick. I felt nausea and my body was inflamed with pain. Do you perhaps can guess what did go wrong? 🥹 Thank you in advance!

      Oh my that’s very interesting!!! I have been sprouting for over 10 years and never have gotten sick from them. Sprouting seeds are tested free of pathogens so it’s likely not that. Perhaps your microbiome needs to go slower with them? My top theory is that If it’s a new fiber source for you it may take time and slower consistency to grow the bacteria that thrive on lentil fiber. Start with only one tbsp or less and work up to more like building muscle at the gym. Just a thought! Other reasons could be cross contamination but that really only happens in homes that also use animal products and I know you don’t. I also like to do what Chris does and freeze the sprouts, it softens the fiber perhaps making it even easier to digest too. Hope those thoughts are helpful! You could also contact the company who you got the seeds from - maybe they also have thoughts?

    So the “paste” spread that you put on the wrapper 1st… Is it okay to put it on if you aren’t eating the wrap right away? Not sure if it makes the wrap mushy like a sauce.

      It’s a cashew cheese that’s been fermented and dehydrated so there’s very little water content. It seems to be a slight barrier to the chopped veggies and we don’t find it to make them soggy. Sauces with water are more likely to do that so we use sauces at meal time to drizzle on each bite

      I prefer whole food with the fiber still there - I never did juicing when I went raw. I would look into getting a gut microbiome test and start working on adding whole Fiber varieties of plants to your diet more consistently, if I were in your shoes 🩷

    There are definitely raw vegans who have too high blood sugar, I was one of them at first. I ate too many fruits and I wasn't balancing it properly with veggies. The issue I think, was that I was eating fruits that were bred to be higher in sugar than fruits usually are naturally. It was feeding gut flora that love sugar. They were breeding out of control and taking up too much space in my gut, prompting me to further eat almost exclusively super sugary fruits. I ate pretty much no fat at all but still had issues. I had to fix my diet by eating the less sweet fruits and increasing my veggies and herbs. Once I got that under control and my gut stabilized I was able to eat more of whatever I wanted, including lots of fats from raw olives, avacados, nuts and seeds, without negatively impacting my blood sugar. Sometimes we forget that even fruits and veggies are being bred to appeal to the factory-style diet that many of us have become accustomed to. Farmers are trying very hard to compete in the market, using every advantage they can. Now adays we are even seeing plants being genetically engineered with animal DNA to repel insects and create thicker skins to increase shelf life. Even coffee beans are being genetically spliced. It's a problem. Right now I'm trying to get back into veganism because I fell off after having kids with a man who eats primarily meats and breads. I've blown up like a balloon and my labs do NOT look good. I'm ready to go back to eating real food again. I MISS my body. 180lbs is extremely uncomfortable.

      Balance and variety is key! I’m just not a fan of all fruit/high fruit for many, many reasons. The gut thrives on variety and adding loads of veggies/herbs/greens/sprouts etc. Fruit is still fine, but many forget they are only one part of a healthy raw diet. I still feel better on low fat (I keep it to 10%) which is just enough for me to enjoy fats and still feel great. Wishing you the best on your journey back to plants! 🩷

    Hi Lissa...These wraps look delicious! I'm anxious to get started on making them but don't have a dehydrator. I see Excalibur makes a small one (4 tray) which would be perfect for me since I'm the only one I'd be making these for. Do you have any feedback on the small, 4 tray one? Do you know if the silicone trays will fit in it? Thanks!

      Heya! Im not a personal fan of the 4 tray for a few reasons. It’s small so you need to get the smaller rectangle silicone trays (which I prefer the large ones that make bigger square wraps) and since you’d be making 3 wraps per batch instead of 2, you’ll be filling 75% of the dehydrator which really stifles airflow. This makes things dry unevenly and take twice as long…. I much prefer the 9 tray. It’s much better for airflow because there’s more space and the bigger square trays fit. The only reason I would ever get a 4 tray would be for small jobs like marinating veggies, drying herbs and fruit slices, but not wraps. I know small sounds like it would be better for space, but it’s not as great of a machine for the wraps. Hope that helps! We use and love the Excalibur 9 Tray model 3926TB - you can find it here!       ⁠​⁠@@RawFoodRomancehi Lisa. I just made the Carmelized Onion wrap. And it fit perfectly into two of the small trays(I have the small 4 tray Excalibur). I’m now making the Creamy Cauliflower wrap. It was a bigger recipe and it filled 3 of my trays. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take to long to dry!! Love your recipes!!❤

      Our friend Chris Kendall found one in Saskatoon Canada which is not considered a major hub. He also found a great one in Sweden. They do exist in some places that are not major cities, obviously not all places will have one but one might be surprised at what one can find 😊

      Thank you. I choose variety and abundance and I do not do detoxes, cleanses, fasts, juicing etc. I eat whole foods and don’t push my body with extreme behaviours with food. My body detoxes 24/7 I don’t need to force it into a “cleanse” all I need to do is support it nutritionally and calorically 😍

I don’t understand why people who are already on a raw vegan diet doing all these detoxes, fasts, enemas, and such, and that’s the reason why we lost a lot of people. It’s about balance. I am not vegan, but I love eating salads with some animal protein. I am prediabetic, so my doctor told me to incorporate animal products to save my life.

      I know many raw vegan people who reversed diabetes without animal products. At Mastering Diabetes they help people do this with a high carb/low fat diet and vegan too. I personally had all the symptoms of pre-diabetes but they all disappeared after going raw. But that’s besides the main point… in the raw community, it’s not the raw food that’s the issue, it’s the BEHAVIOURS that people have with raw food (and the detox obsession) that can lead people down a dangerous path. Many people with disordered patterns surrounding food are attracted to a raw diet because it’s a way they can justify their choices. The more restrictive one gets, the more they are praised for their “discipline” and it can become a competition (between others or just themselves) to see how long one can go on a fast or how “pure” they can become - without realizing that our bodies naturally detox 24/7 if we support it nutritionally - and we do not need to force it into detox and we don’t need to have all these intense detox symptoms (most of which are actually symptoms of under eating and/or deficiencies!) but people are again praised for how many detox symptoms they have and if they feel crappy, they are encouraged to keep pushing through and keep restricting more and more in the name of “healing” - and then classically these people end up back on other foods etc and then speak ill of a raw or vegan diet when clearly it wasn’t veganism (which isn’t a “diet”, it’s an ethical stand against animal use which encompassed other animal use like leather, wool, honey, testing on animals etc, it’s just that diet is a big part of the choice to not use animals) or raw food that was the problem to begin with. That’s why it’s behavioural and stems from deep trauma, or other causes that need to be explored in the mental health space by a professional. Also on a side note: people with digestive issues getting restrictive with variety and get on very minimalistic style raw diets can atrophy their guts to the point that almost nothing feels good to digest… it’s definitely not a road I would go down and I focused on as much variety as I can get in, which is not the norm in the raw food community. People tell me all the time I shouldn’t combine this and that and I eat too many ingredients etc but I am healthier than ever and my gut microbiome scores are higher than anyone I know who has had the same testing done. Sorry for the long winded response, I’m very passionate about this subject because I have spoken either hundreds of people if not thousands, most of whom have been damaged by detox protocols and are worse off. I strive to be an example of a healthy raw vegan to he best of my ability and to show that it doesn’t have to be restrictive and regimented. I’m here to help people add MORE raw foods to their lives (regardless if they are vegan or not), to have fun with their food, and to empower people to make more compassionate choices. 🥰🥰🥰 thank you for being here and sharing as well!

      @@RawFoodRomance Me personally, I don’t do well eating high carb and low fat. I eat a lot of salads with some animal products because that’s what personally helps me. When I was vegan, I did mostly raw and most of the raw food was fruit based. I was listening to all these people telling me that fruit is God, and vegetables are low vibration foods. When I ate mostly fruitarian, yes I may have energy and all that, but I wind up crashing and constantly hungry. And yes, I ate enough. A fruit based diet is not for me. To me, eating almost fruitarian personally caused me my prediabetes. And then you have vegans being mean and nasty to ex-vegans like myself. I am no longer vegan because of health reasons, but I do eat mostly plant based with some animal products, and it balances me out. I know all about Mastering Diabetes, but I don’t agree with some of the things that they are saying but to each it’s own. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, and I am so happy that you didn’t bash me because I am an ex vegan. That’s why I subscribed to you.

      I’m glad! I really hope people can find a more balanced and healthful way to eat raw and vegan or plant based. I never did all fruit or super high fruit because when I was in Canada for the first 5 years, it was super expensive in my area for tropical fruit and most was not really ripe. I did eat fruit and still do of course because I believe it’s a very important part of a raw diet BUT it’s not God and it’s not the cure-all. There are so many other things to enjoy!! I just really love salads and savory so I eat a lot of that as well. Balance. After I began learning more about the gut microbiome too in 2020/2021 I started incorporating even more variety into my raw vegan diet which further enhanced my health. So I never experienced the high fruit ways and never will. I hear far too many stories like yours that reinforce my views of a balanced high variety raw diet. Fruit is great but it’s only one part of the whole experience. Happy you subscribed and I hope you enjoy my content! 🩷

    Even though I am no longer vegan anymore because of health reasons, I like the fact that you are not eating all fruit. You are a vegetable person like me. That’s probably the reason why you don’t look emaciated.

      I strive to eat enough. My main goals are eating adequate calories and eating from a very wide range of choices, which includes plenty of vegetables, greens, sprouts, etc and of course fruit. I do eat quite a bit of fruit, but I also equally value vegetables and do eat more of them than the average raw foodie.

      You may likely not be eating enough. That’s the number one thing people struggle with and why they feel tired and hungry. That and not getting adequate variety. Try to aim for more calories. Stick your low fat options and rest well/stay hydrated/lift weights along with your diet changes.

    How do afford all these groceries? I really want to make the slide from vegetarian to high raw vegan, but everything is so expensive already with only eating half of what you eat in a day. :/

      I don’t eat all organic, I don’t shop at expensive stores like whole foods as often (though we do go there for a few things we cannot get elsewhere) - I also shop in season as much as I can and we do buy bulk when we are able to and I don’t spend $ on stuff I used to (like energy drinks, snacks, take out, animal products, packaged foods, etc) so I actually spend LESS $ now than I did before when I would buy more expensive junk and restaurant food. That saved a lot of $! Costco is decent but everything is so expensive these days - the goal is to do the best that you can with what’s available to you. We also grow our own sprouts and microgreens which saves tons of $ too. Hope that helps! Do the best you can 🥰

    there's no benefit to excluding legumes. excluding beans because of this "raw purity" bit is OCD. and it's also black and white thinking to categorize cooking beans as bad, and throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Which are signs of mental illness.

      As a raw foodie, I eat WAY more sprouted lentils, chickpeas and mung beans than I ever ate cooked ones. I was never a fan personally. I don’t exclude them now, I just prepare them in a way that I enjoy, where they have more nutrition and are much easier to digest 😋 PS - I’ve never said cooked beans are bad. Not sure where that came from. I just prefer raw ones, as I believe they are better (that doesn’t mean cooked is “bad”, just means that raw has more advantages - that’s all - you draw your own conclusions though)

      There are amino acids that make protein in all plants so the protein I eat is from everything. It’s in fruits, veg, greens, seeds, nuts, herbs s, all of it! It just adds up as you eat. I get more grams than I need each day and I don’t even focus on it. I don’t “make sure I get protein”, instead, I make sure I eat food, cuz protein is part of it all. All I do is make sure I eat enough calories through the day and enjoy a wide variety of plants. Easy! And very freeing.

    How much psyllium and flax/chia goes into each wrap? My digestive system really struggles with too much psyllium or too much flax or chia seed. Thank you! :)

      A big help is to be more consistent with smaller amounts so your gut grows stronger and can enjoy more. Each wrapper if you make the 14x14 size contains 1 tbsp of psyllium powder and 1 tbsp of chia or flax. Usually I eat 1/2 a wrap but many times I do eat a whole one. Eat the amount that feels good for you and be consistent to work up to more if you want. The gut grows based on what fibers you feed your microbiome.
